Our story

A family, a kitchen and a long table.

Three generations of the Rossi family, one table, and a lot of Sunday lunches.

The family

Rossi

Cooking for people we’re glad to see.

It started at a family table. The Rossi family cooked for friends and neighbours long before there was a restaurant, and everything we cook still comes back to that table.

We cook what we were taught: watch, taste, adjust, and do it again. Nobody here measures much, and nobody here is in a hurry.

The room works the same way. Plates get passed across the table, and nobody is rushed out of the door.

How we got here

A few moments we remember

The short version, told the way we’d tell it at the table.

  1. 1978 A family kitchen where everyone is fed on Sundays.
  2. 1992 The first small restaurant opens, with six tables.
  3. 2005 The next generation joins the kitchen.
  4. Today Three generations, one long table.

The recipes

The recipes behind the plates

A few of the dishes the Rossi family would hand down first.

A plate of spaghetti finished with fresh cheese

The Sunday ragù

Cooked slowly, stirred often, and never rushed. It is the dish the family argues about most.

A pizza with melted cheese and tomato baking in a wood-fired oven

The pizza dough

Mixed the day before and left alone to rest, because good dough is mostly patience.

A slice of tiramisu on a plate, dusted with cocoa

Nonna’s tiramisù

The last plate of the night, and the one nobody says no to.
